Borehole Rehabilition
Borehole Rehabilitation
There are many reasons why a borehole needs to be rehabilitated. Some of these are boreholes clogging up with fine sediment. The arteries (also called aquifers) feeding the well carry sediment with the water into the well, and over time the well fills up with this sediment. Over drawing the borehole causes the aquifers to collapse and dry up due to incorrect pump specifications, for example, water table dropping below the water strike zone (borehole not drilled deep enough) and in some cases, foreign objects down the well that have been left open.
This process involves re-aligning the drill rig over the well casing, tripping down to the bottom of the well and developing the well. If needed, the well will be drilled deeper until sufficient water has been discovered. There are several methods used to rehabilitate a well and the best method will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
